Derrick Hickman is a contemporary artist. His work revolves around themes of memory and how we use it to define ourselves with an emphasis on text based works and childhood iconography.
Derrick’s work employs elements of advertising jargon, childhood iconography, and text. Themes of self identity and societal comparisons can be seen in both of his distinctively different series of paintings, especially as seen through the lens of pop culture.
He holds a BFA from the Columbus College of Art & Design, as well as a BFA from Ohio University.
His work is in private and corporate collections around the country and is available for private commissions.
